This is an excellent book, much improved in this new edition. Also good cd for students. As a Suzuki teacher, I am familiar with all books for both piano and flute methods, but must caution those unfamiliar with the method about the use of the books, as one might think they are too advanced. I particularly liked ordering it online, and having it shipped quickly, rather than having to go to a music store.
Best way to engage younger children in learning keyboard April 7, 2010

It's the Suzuki Method, so buying a book by Dr. Yamaha or Dr. Kawasaki or Dr. Honda wouldn't work. The Suzuki method emphasizes learning music just like children learn to speak - by listening and imitating the sounds they hear. No onerous sheet music reading or sight reading - just listening and repeating. If you are trying to engage children under 8 or 9 in music, the Suzuki Method for (insert instrument of choice here) is by far the easiest way to start out.
BTW - I am a self-taught and fairly prolific song-writing guitarist/vocalist/pianist and wished I had started this way....

We bought this as I wanted to introduce by son to simple piano music and planned to enroll him in lessons. He still loves his bedtime CD (after months of use) and I will play the music on the piano for him. We've decided to hold off on lessons until he's a little older but am planning on getting the level 2 set so that he has a new CD to listen too.

Book arrived very quickly. Made my sessions with my daughter easy. Recommend making a copy of CD for daily use. My kid is 5 years old and the CD is all over the house at one time are another. I made copies of her lesson page so her teacher can write all over it. Hope to pass to son later.
